What I collect, and why.
Home Economics runs this site and ProMap. This page says what is collected when you use them. Updated 6 November 2026.
Your email address
If you give me your email address (to sign in, to start a free trial, to have a share card emailed to you, or to get the monthly ProMap update), I use it for those things and to send occasional ProMap updates. Every update has an unsubscribe link, and you can unsubscribe at any time. If you have a ProMap account, I note the places and topics you look at (the first place you search for, the places, map layers and paid features you look at most, and how many charts and share cards you make), so that ProMap updates can be about them. When you create a ProMap account, I also note where you came to ProMap from (the website that linked to it, such as Reddit or a newsletter, and any campaign tag in the link), so I can see which places bring readers. If I can’t tell from the map where you are, I also note the approximate city your internet connection is in, so the emails can be about your area.
Accounts and payments
Sign-in is handled by Clerk. Payments are handled by Stripe: your card details go to Stripe and are never seen or stored here.
Saved views and stories
If you save map views or stories in ProMap, they are stored with your account on the site’s hosting (Vercel) and are private. A story you share can be seen by anyone with its link until you stop sharing it. Deleting a view or story removes it from your list.
Usage statistics
Page views and feature use are counted with Plausible, which uses no cookies and builds no profile of you.
What I don’t do
I don’t sell, rent or share your email address or your data with advertisers.
